Barnsider's History

Barnsider Management Corporation is one of those distinctive companies who has turned out one success story after another. We own and operate five restaurants in the East. The formula for our success is simple. Each restaurant operates the same way .... offering the highest quality food, service and atmosphere. If we had to give just one reason for succeeding, it would have to be people. Our people all enjoy the restaurant business and have a willingness to work and strive for the highest goals possible.

Our corporate headquarters are located in Danvers, Massachusetts, where the "behind the scenes" work of a successful operation goes on. The offices of our President, Vice-Presidents, Treasurer and Executive Chef are here as well as our Accounting and Marketing Departments. Our restaurants are located in Albany, New York, and in Beverly, Danvers and Burlington, Massachusetts.

Our restaurants offer fine dining along with a variety of wines which were selected for their excellence in taste. In addition, all of our restaurants are fully staffed to offer the party planner the time-saving convenience of choosing one banquet option with choices for each guest, or we can tailor a banquet to the customer's special requests. Private rooms are available for parties of 20 or more people.

Barnsider's Albany

In 1967, our first restaurant opened in Colonie Shopping Center in Albany, New York. This 150 seat restaurant serving steaks, chops and seafood, was contained in a rustic barnboard setting. From the very beginning, Barnsider enjoyed unparalled success in Albany. The definition of a "great steak" is the Barnsider.

In September of 1987, Barnsider moved from the Colonie Shopping Center location to a larger facility while continuing to retain its rustic charm. A large outside deck was added for alfresco dining and cocktails during the summer season. It has now become the "in place" to dine in the Albany area.

The Beverly Depot

In 1971, a marvelous old train station in Beverly, Massachusetts, went on the market. With imagination and hard work, the Beverly Depot Restaurant and Saloon became the talk of the town. Maintaining much of the original structure, the dining room has an enormous curved brick wall at one end which houses a large working fireplace. Although the depot building no longer houses the ticket counters, it is still the Beverly stop on the Boston and Maine Railroad, bringing people from all over the greater Boston area to dine with us.

By August of 1985, plans were completed and construction finished on a new banquet facility on the Depot's lower level. Able to accomodate up to 130 guests, the Depot has become the popular spot for special banquets and celebrations.

The Hardcover

In the summer of 1974, seating only 72 in the dining room, we created one of those great little restaurants you wish no one else knew about. Four other operators had attempted restaurants at the location before we moved in. Because of its success, reputation and popularity, we expanded our dining facilities in the summer of 1980 and added a spectacular two-level lounge that opens onto an intimate garden patio when the season permits.

The Hardcover, on Route 1 North in Danvers, Massachusetts, turned out to be an uncompromising success, sporting a reputation that just won't quit - it gets better every year.

The Dandelion Green

In September of 1977, many dreams were realized in the opening of the Dandelion Green in Burlington, Massachusetts. The principals of the Barnsider had designed what they considered a showplace restaurant with the best of all our restaurants rolled into one. Seating almost 300 people, the Dandelion Green was a dream come true. Located just off Route 128 and amidst a thriving office complex, its varied and extensive lunch operation is as popular as dinner.

NOTE: None of the above would be possible if it were not for the people we employ. We owe our success entirely to their hard work and dedication.
